Barks & Mulches

 Barks & Mulches

With the worst drought in 100 years taking hold at unprecedented levels all over Australia, the importance of water management is critical.
The general public is also aware, more than ever, of the value of mulching in order to optimise the water reaching the garden bed, the retention of moisture in the soil and controlling run-off.
Mulching can prevent evaporation from the soil by up to 70 per cent. The break down of organic mulch also releases nutrients into the soil to maximise fertility.
Using water more efficiently can result in significant cost savings and environmental benefits. The use of premium products to promote growth and reduce water waste is a priority for all.

Benefits of mulch

For best results apply an even cover of around 75mm – 100mm thickness all over your garden and every 3months turn with a garden fork to maintain best water penetration and to rejuvenate colour.

Tea Tree Mulch

Tea Tree Mulch:

  • Contains a wide variety of plant nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus and potash) which compost down to enrich the soil.
  • Inhibits weed growth, yet is highly absorbent, allowing water to freely penetrate.
  • Reduces need for watering as its natural qualities enhance moisture retention.
  • Enriches the soil and stimulates fast growth of plants and crops.
  • Worm friendly to improve soil structure.
  • Free of chemicals, weeds and seeds.
  • Has a natural feel, look and colour to enhance your garden.
  • Provides a better matting effect when spread.

Unlike many commercial mulches or chip products, Tea Tree Mulch does not draw moisture away from where it is needed, or overheat surrounding plants, or infest with weeds and seeds or chemicals, or attract pests like snails or white ants.
After removing existing weeds, a 75mm – 100mm coverage is recommended application.

Hoop Pine Mulch

Hoop Pine Mulch:

Pine has a rich brown curly appearance and is renowned for its ability to cling on to sloping terrain, long lasting, resistance to high winds, to absorb and retain moisture and is also extremely low maintenance.  Installation should be to a depth of 100mm to 150mm. It is rich in colour and is very long lasting.
